Five Title V teams take on health transformation challenges in the 2025 Learning Journey

April 23, 2025

The National MCH Workforce Development Center is excited to announce that five Title V teams are participating in our 2025 Learning Journey. The teams are from Title V agencies in Hawai‘i, Maryland, Minnesota, New Jersey, and Washington.

Taking on Health Transformation

This year’s teams have selected the following challenges to tackle with support from the Workforce Development Center:

  • Developing a state adolescent health plan (two teams).
  • Developing a plan to enhance care coordination for children and youth with special healthcare needs.
  • Shifting the focus of an existing initiative from capacity-building to collective impact for children and youth.
  • Improving data capacity and utilization across the agency’s maternal and child health (MCH) bureau.

The 2025 Learning Journey

The Learning Journey is a 10-month program. Experts at the Workforce Development Center provide customized support to help teams take on their current challenge and develop the skills to face their next challenge. Teams participate in:

  • Ongoing coaching with a dedicated coach who has years of experience working with MCH professionals.
  • A Systems Exploration Workshop that helps teams do a deep dive with key partners to explore their challenge.
  • A multi-day Learning Institute and additional skill-building workshops in change management, adaptive leadership, systems thinking, evidence-based decision making, and family and community engagement.
  • An intensive, in-state consultation with a team of experts.
  • A final peer-learning webinar that helps teams transition their focus to sustaining and amplifying their health transformation work.

Congratulations to these five teams! We look forward to supporting them as they take on these important challenges in maternal and child health!

Interested in participating in the 2026 Learning Journey? Stay tuned! Applications for this annual program usually open in September.
