The Health Resources Services Administration (HRSA) has awarded funding to the National MCH Workforce Development Center (the Center) to support the development, implementation, and evaluation of the MCH Faculty Development Fellowship Program at Diverse Institutions (Faculty Fellowship).
The goal of the Faculty Fellowship is to provide two-year Fellowships for up to 10 early and mid-career faculty members from Minority Serving Institutions1 (MSIs), to diversify and build capacity of MCH public health faculty across the country. “Faculty Fellowships will contribute to building capacity and developing a diverse MCH workforce that is able to build and sustain academic-practice partnerships and address MCH inequities in communities that are historically underserved.“2
The National MCH Workforce Development Center is seeking experts (Consultants) in Maternal and Child Health (MCH) and public health to support the Faculty Fellowship program. Consultants can represent a variety of expertise and experience including academia, Title V MCH professionals, and practitioners from MCH community-based organizations.
To be considered for a Consultant role, the individual applicant must:
- Be a subject matter expert in public health and maternal and child health (MCH), Title V MCH, a community-based organization who works in the areas of MCH
- Have expertise in any of the following areas:
- Successfully garnering federal, state, or other foundation funding for their work
- Teaching or creating MCH courses or curriculum
- Partnering with other academic or community-based partners for MCH focused projects
- Have a history of successfully mentoring or supporting scholars or professionals interested in MCH, especially those from historically and systemically marginalized populations. These include but are not limited to:
- Racially or ethnically marginalized populations
- People that are living with a disability
- People who have experienced homelessness, incarceration, been a refugee and/or immigrant
- People living in rural, remote, or frontier geographic areas
- People whose native language is not English
- People who identify as LGBTQ+
Consultants with the following experience are especially encouraged to apply:
- Currently working in a Minority Serving Institution (MSI) for at least 2 years. An MSI is defined as “an institution that has a demonstrated record of or historical commitment to serving underrepresented or disadvantaged students, including but not limited to, Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs), Tribal Colleges and Universities (TCUs), Hispanic Serving Institutions, Asian American and Pacific Islander Serving Institutions and Alaska Native and Native Hawaiian Serving Institutions.”
- Attended an MSI for undergraduate or graduate school.
- Collaborated with faculty or staff at an MSI on a project lasting at least 2 years.
Consultant Honorarium
Consultants will receive an honorarium for their support of the Faculty Fellowship program. $125 per hour, for a maximum of $5,000, to each Consultant. All required travel expenses will be covered and organized by the Fellowship program.
